End-to-end grant support includes grant readiness, grant research, grant development, program evaluation, and grant reporting support.

How it works

Each organization is unique, so we kick off with a comprehensive strategy session.Together we will review your grant readiness, confirm your grant goals, and design a customized plan that fills the gaps.Depending on your starting point, plans may include:

  • Crystal clear goals, objectives, and activities to ensure that anticipated outcomes and impact are clear and aligned with your budget

  • Deep research with statistics and citations to showcase the urgent need for your services - you can repurpose them for your website, campaigns, and social media content

  • A logic model to clarify exactly what will be achieved by whom/by when to ensure your staff is on the same page and create a unified vision for success.

  • An evaluation plan to align with industry best practices, collect data, and deliver meaningful, verified results that attract more funding

  • Letters of Support / MOUs to showcase strong collaborations and foster trust among community partners

  • Line-by-line budget and narrative to ensure complete transparency and accountability and show how valuable funds will be spent

  • END-TO-END GRANT SUPPORT SERVICES - Start at $5,000+ per month, on six-month contracts. To customize your services appropriately, rates will vary.

  • MASTER GRANT TEMPLATE - I will write a comprehensive and editable master grant template that responds to the most frequently asked funder questions, then train staff to use it (plus a suite of professional tools and templates) so your team can apply for grants all year - $5,000 one-time fee

  • FOUNDATION GRANT REVIEW - An in-depth review and editing of your completed grant application - $1,000

Hi, I'm Aurora.I launched Makaira Advising in 2020 to fill the critical gaps I experienced over 20+ years in nonprofits as staff, director, and consultant.My experience spans the fields of ocean sustainability, island conservation, human and labor rights, global supply chains, local human services, and mental health support services.Makaira Advising connects my past to the present. The first grant I wrote supported my marine science graduate work.Makaira is the scientific name for the blue marlin, a highly prized apex predator known for its speed, strength, and overall fight. Grant writing is an art, but 80% of grant writing isn’t actually writing.
